Endovascular Coding: New Codes – New Challenges
Presented by: Stephanie Albright, RHIA, CPC
March 12, 2019
Each year the new procedure codes bring new challenges with documentation and reporting. The new 2019 category III code for endovascular revascularization is no exception. With existing category I codes it is important to ensure the right code is reported for the right service. This session will provide not only guidance for the new code but will review the existing codes for comparison and accurate reporting for cases that may require using both codes. Coders with some experience in IR revascularization and those that manage these coders will each benefit from this session.
This webinar will address the following objectives:
CE credit: RCC – 1.0 and RCCIR – 1.0
- Identify the components of the procedure from both a clinical and coding perspective.
- Define the treatment zone and devices that may be utilized.
- Determine what is so “new” about the new code (O505T) – when new vs. old is assigned.
- Learn ways to manage the denials of category III codes.
Target Audience: Interventional coders
