Coding Webinar Series
Did I Hire the Right Person?

Presented by: Karna Morrow, CPC, RCC, CCS-P, an AHIMA-Approved ICD-10-CM Trainer

March 13, 2019
1-2 p.m. ET

Just because two people have the title of “coder” doesn’t mean they have the same skill set, or even do the same tasks. Just because someone is a certified coder doesn’t mean that they can jump into the deep end and code all of the revascularization cases at your academic hospital. Are there skills that are needed for “coding” that rely on more than just the CPT and ICD10 code sets? An efficient coding department starts with the right people doing the right tasks with the appropriate job classification. Are you responsible for hiring coders at your practice? This session is great starting place for anyone who needs to fill a coding position or recruit for coders within their organization.

At the conclusion of the webinar, you will be able to:

  • Define the core competencies for the coding position within your specific organization.
  • Recognize words/phrases within a resume that would support the competencies needed.
  • Determine those tasks outside of the primary scope of the coder’s position and establish plan for reassignment.
  • Identify sources for quality coders within your reach.
